Every poet is invited to submit one entry, it can use any poetic form, but must be previously unpublished, the poet’s own work and less than 40 lines.
The judges are looking for distinct poetic voices that display originality, craftsmanship and memorability
The winner, and two runners up, will be published by Beat Magazine and the poems will be put on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Library Service website and displayed in libraries around the Borough.
All entries will be considered anonymously by the judges
You can obtain an entry form from the library services in your area, or enter using the online form.
The rules:
Every poet is invited to submit one entry,
Entries can be on any subject and can use any poetic form.
Entries must the poet’s own original work.
Entries must not have been published, self-published, published on a website or broadcast before November 2010.
Entries must be less than 40 lines.
The competition is open to anyone aged 17 or over
Handwritten entries must be typed in black ink on one side of A4.
Under no circumstances can alterations be made to poems once entered.
The judges’ decision is final and neither the judges nor Poetry Competition staff can enter into any correspondence.

Entries cannot be returned, so please keep a copy.
It is currently not possible to confirm receipt of entries.
An entry form, (using the on-line entry form is an entry form) must accompany all entries.

The closing date is midnight the 3oth of September 2010
Winners and commendations will be notified by 31st October 2010.
All winners will be asked to provide a short biography and photograph to accompany the publication of their entry.
The copyright of each poem remains with the author. However, authors of the winning poems, by entering the competition, grant the competition organizers the right to publish and/or broadcast their poem for one year from November 2010.
The winners will be announced at
a “Poetry Raw” evening
in The Firestation Centre for Arts and Culture
on the 11th November 2010
8pm onwards, there’s a bar
